it’s electric…
June 18, 2009
What is sending you power these days? This green car, I could feel the charge. The electric slide is comin’ on friends. (insert a boogie- woogie! here) Oh, it’s on, it’s on like Donkey Kong!
Other places I find power these days:
My friend Kelly and her wisdom are packing a serious punch lately. Girl has got it going on.
Gina’s bread
Forgiveness
New kindness schemes- what if I offer one free photo portrait session (shhhh! i think i’m becoming a real photographer) a month, guerrilla goodness style….you anonymously nominate someone else, for any reason, I pick one a month, kindness photography is born. (this might be really fun because I will not be offering portraits, just birth photography) Hmmmm….maybe someday I can even travel.
Stories and new friendships
Guacamole and chips
Finding new strength in being vulnerable and fragile
Tell me, what is charging you today?

What is charging me?
Being covered in children, which I know I’m going to miss desperately one day even as they smother me
Believing my dreams are possible
Fudgsicles
Berries in my garden

the fat rolls on my baby’s thighs
cold leftover homemade pizza for breakfast
sun leaping through the front door this morning
my two year old saying to his baby brother, who was grabbing his face, gumming his forehead and drooling on him: “fanks for da kiss, brudder!”
a friend full of magic and healing leaving for a fabulous, long road trip to a new home on the west coast and the bittersweet sadness at watching her go.
the burgeoning, accidental pumpkin patch thriving in my front yard.
lighting a candle. this time, for me and my bittersweetly sad heart.
red toenail polish.
your guacamole. (hint, hint) 🙂

i forgot one:
the lemony smell of magnolia blooms plucked from my mother’s tree wafting about in my living room.

Woohoo! You go, girl!! I needed this little power punch of electricity this morning. 🙂 Thank you!! xoxo, ~ M.

Right now I’m charged by the potential of big changes on the horizon, a constant and deepening circle of dear friends, and my mid-June garden harvest.
And through sheer vanity, I’ve created a bread set on flickr. Baking is also keeping me charged these days, emotionally and calorically 🙂

nearly free new music
being courageous enough to start a blog
working my way through the very beginnings of my 52/52 list
(I’m already taking more risks. Whod’a thought?)
apple crumb turnovers
poetry
people doing random guerrilla kindnesses (Yeah, that would be you, Patience. And your merry band.)

@ Kelly: Having a volunteer pumpkin patch is sooo cool!

Oh, Gina’s bread looks wonderful! I have to agree about the lemony-sugar scent of magnolia, too. Things here that are charging (recharging?) me up:
* new snap peas from the garden, crisp and green in my mouth
* the promise held by the golden swallowtail eggs on our dill
* having an orange snack food picnic on our front lawn
* a friend who gave the exact two compliments I needed, at the exact time I needed them
* the fact that “guerrilla goodness” is even a concept floating in my brain, thanks to you…
