true love…
September 6, 2012
She introduced the idea gently… “SOooo would you photograph my wedding?” well, maybe not so gently.
“…but Ash, I don’t DO weddings, I don’t have the equipment, I have a seriously old camera, I know nothing about flash, they won’t be crispy clean and perfect. ” I said.
“Yeah, I don’t care about all that, we want you.” she said. And there was nothing in me that could say no, she is just so lovely and dear in every way…and I knew she meant it (but it still stressed me out), I knew she just wanted to marry Dan. THAT was everything, the rest was just details…their love is tender and sweet…and true. This is probably the only kind of wedding I could even attempt.
And there is no way I could ever do justice to that day, there was a warmth and kindness all around it…and joy. At the end, I was the one that felt blessed, to stand behind my camera and fuzzy pictures, to witness that sweet, sweet day.
Thanks Ash and Dan…we love you.
so much love and thanks to Jess Lucia for being my second shooter and wedding photographer doula that day…you were amazing.
mad props to all you wedding photographers…you have all my respect dudes…that stuff is HARD!

Yes, there are tools and tricks of the trade and there is a “look” that wedding photogs are able to capture and so many are extremely good at what they do. In this case, because you love these people and they love you and they so OBVIOUSLY, truly, madly, love each other, you captured magic and beauty and soul AND the pictures are amazing! What a wonderful chance to stretch your creativity and to stretch for the right reasons! I love these Patience! Seriously, you are somethin’! xxoo

So sweet : )
My favorite photographers don’t have fancy cameras. They shoot with their hearts. I can always see that in pictures and I love it more than clean and crisp. I love it more than noiseless and perfect. I love real. Real is beautiful.

Ummm…you totally rocked it! Old camera nothin! There are a ton of wedding photogs that do this all the time and kinda suck and you never do them and totally rocked, just sayin!

Weddings are a celebration of relationship; of love; of family; of hope. You nailed it. You may not have the “esperience” that seasoned photographers do, but you have the most essential element – desire to capture that special moment in time. I know many photographers would be honored to have you working on team with them. Bravo!

Omg Patience!! These are breathtaking!! I’m thinking you should add weddings to your expertise!!! You have such a talent… It’s who is behind the camera, not the camera that matters 🙂
